Frequently Asked Questions
• When should flowers be provided?
As soon as possible, as flowers can start to brown/wilt in about a week. That said, they are your special flowers and can be used regardless of condition.
• Do I need to ship my flowers, or can I drop my flowers off?
If you live within an hour or so of Marine, IL, then it probably makes sense to meet in person. Contact Lisa at 618-218-2048 to arrange.
• How should I prepare my flowers before getting them to you?
Since we will dry your flowers for you, it's best for you to keep them as fresh as possible. Keep them in a vase with water. Your vases can be returned to you if you want to keep them.
• How do you dry your flowers?
Primarily with a freeze dryer to preserve the best color and texture. However, some flowers dry best in silica gel, so that method is used at times as well.
• Must flowers be dried before they go into resin?
Yes. Flowers will actually brown and rot if they go into resin when they are fresh. They will look great at first and then deteriorate before your eyes.
• Will my flowers change when they dry?
Yes. Your flowers will still be beautiful, but they will change. How they change depends on the flower color and type. For example, red roses become dark, almost a deep purple. Fresh, large lilies hold a lot of water, so they become almost transparent when dried. White flowers may turn yellow or brown. Please know that we make every attempt to preserve the flowers in a way that makes them look as much like your fresh flowers as possible, but they will change. Ultimately, they are still your special flowers, so by all means, preserve them!
• Can you use old flowers that are already dried?
Yes! Lots of beautiful items can still be made from these flowers!
• Can you make something I saw on another site?
Yes! Please bring us your ideas. We want to work with you and can likely make it happen!
• Can this be DIY instead?
Yes, but practice on flowers that are not sentimental. A lot can go wrong during this process - flowers can dry too much to the point of crumbling, resin can fail to harden or have issues with air bubbles, yellowing, or cloudiness. Like many DIY projects, you may find it worthwhile to use a professional.
